WebFORCE(TM) product description and inst-image information

WebFORCE(TM) is SGI's new product line providing WebMagic(TM) authoring software for the Web, client (Netscape Navigator(TM)) and server (Netscape Communications' Netsite(TM)) software, plus WebMagic(TM) Digital Media Tools to capture, edit, and playback audio, video, and images.

IMPORTANT: WebFORCE(TM) Authoring and Digital Media Tools require Irix 5.3--they will NOT run on Irix 5.2, or earlier, Operating Systems. There is a set of Irix 5.2-based inst images for Netscape Navigator(TM) client software located on the v5.0 DT CD in the /CDROM/dist/5.2 subdirectory. All the Irix 5.3-based WebForce software can be found in the /CDROM/dist/5.3 subdirectory.

For any developers creating content using WebMagic(TM) Author, MPEG Encoder, and/or CinePak Encoder products (in the new Digital Media Tools), you will need to install temporary licenses to run these three products.

• Netscape Navigator(TM)

  Netscape Navigator(TM) is the premier browser for surfing the World Wide Web. This version of Netscape Navigator has been customized for your Silicon Graphics system. Use Netscape Navigator to explore the wealth of information available on the Web.

• WebFORCE(TM) : To Author and To Serve

  Silicon Graphics takes authoring for the Web into a new realm of possibilities with WebMagic(TM) Author. WebMagic(TM) Author is a powerful editor that allows you to quickly and easily create stunning Web content including marketing material, technical papers and specs.

  The WebMagic(TM) Digital Media Tools suite gives you the tools that you need to capture, edit and playback all forms of digital media including audio, video and images. Using WebMagic(TM) Author, you can integrate your digital media content into your Web pages simply and effectively.

• WebFORCE(TM) : To Serve

  Netscape Communications' Netsite(TM) server software, part of the WebFORCE software environment from Silicon Graphics, brings secure communications, high performance and point-and-click simplicity to companies and individuals who want to create information services on global networks.

  Use Netsite to serve hypermedia information on the net, including formatted text, graphics, audio and video.

• WebFORCE(TM) : Licensing

  You now have the unique opportunity to install Netscape Navigator as well as evaluation copies of WebMagic(TM) Author and WebMagic(TM) Digital Media Tools CinePak and MPEG Encoders. In all three cases, to use these evalution software programs, you will need to install a temporary license. To do this, add any-or-all of the following three pairs of lines to your /var/netls/nodelock file:
